Adopt-a-trail program

Become a South Whiteshell Trail Ambassador!

brian pallister.jpeg

Are you a frequent user of the South Whiteshell Trail? Are you wanting to find a fun and active way to give back to the community? If so… you should join the Adopt-a-Trail Program!

The Adopt-a-Trail Program is a low commitment, volunteer network of South Whiteshell Trail users who take ownership on sections of the trail to help with lite maintenance upkeep and reporting on larger issues. It’s a chance for community members to come together, celebrate the trails and take ownership of them while connecting with a network of other enthusiastic trail users!

What does it mean to be an Ambassador?

  • As a Trail Ambassador you will adopt a section of SW trail to keep an eye on. Preferably one that you travel on often.

  • While you use the trail, you will help to clean off small debris such as litter and small branches.

  • For any larger maintenance needs, you will report them (with pictures) by email to the SWTA (swtainfo@gmail.com). This may include…

    • Major or minor erosion

    • Signage maintenance and needs

    • Downed trees

    • Motorized vehicle use or vandalism

    • Major ruts or other damages

  • SWTA will then assess the reports and forward maintenance requirements to Sustainable Development who are responsible for ongoing trail maintenance on all South Whiteshell Trails.

  • You will also be in the loop about all the great initiatives that the SWTA works on throughout the year including fun events, trail building parties, fundraising drives, group rides/walks and more!
